International specialty re/insurance group Chaucer has announced the appointment of Simon Tighe as Group Head of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG), in addition to his current role as Group Head of Investments and Treasury.

Tighe has been instrumental in driving Chaucer’s ESG sustainability strategy, the company said.

He played a key role in the development of the ESG Balanced Scorecard, Chaucer’s flagship ESG initiative, developed in partnership with Moody’s.

The scorecard allows companies to measure their ESG performance using up to 158 metrics.

“I am pleased to announce Simon’s new role as group leader of ESG,” said John Fowle, CEO of Chaucer. “He has been a driving force behind our ESG strategy, specifically the design and development of our ESG Balanced Scorecard with Moody’s, which provides an objective measurement of ESG. At Chaucer, we strive to provide meaningful value to all of our business partners while striving to support the transition and achieve our sustainability goals, including achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 and carbon neutrality by 2030.”

“I look forward to continuing and building on Chaucer’s past ESG successes,” said Tighe. “Being a real force for good is at the core of our ESG approach. I look forward to making the tangible impact we can make in the way our clients and counterparties manage and mitigate their ESG risk.”
