Amwins merges transportation MGAs | Insurance Business America
Together, they will underwrite more than $250 million in annual premium

Amwins has created Amwins National Transportation Underwriters (ANTU) by merging existing managing general agents Amwins Transportation Underwriters (ATU) and National Truck Underwriting Managers (NTUM).
Together, ATU and NTUM underwrite more than $250 million in annual premium.
As ANTU, the new entity will operate with nearly 80 staff members across eight locations, enhancing service accessibility for retail agents through a network of transportation-focused underwriters knowledgeable in fleet and non-fleet accounts alike.
Reflecting on the integration of ATU and NTUM, both of which have operated independently and under the Amwins umbrella for over four decades, Ryan Armijo, president of Amwins Underwriting, commented: “ATU and NTUM have each been in this space for more than 40 years; they know transportation.
The creation of ANTU will see NTUM president Justin Joyce step in to head the new binding unit. Joyce brings two decades of experience in transportation insurance and a commendable history of fostering strong client relationships.
Meanwhile, the specialty programs unit of ANTU – including environmental transportation, freight broker liability, and the Advantage program – will continue under the leadership of their existing program managers.
The development comes on the heels of Jon Beckham’s appointment at the helm of affinity program management MGA Amwins Program Underwriters.
