Triple-I Weblog | Triple-I Prepared To Mark June 19 As A Federal Vacation

By Sean Kevelighan, CEO, Insurance Information Institute

Congress passed law this week to establish June 19th as June 10th of National Independence Day, and the Insurance Information Institute (Triple-I) welcomes the bipartisan action that has made this possible. President Joseph Biden is expected to sign the measure.

The date is a significant date in US history as June 19, 1865 symbolically marked the end of slavery in the United States

The Triple-I stands for an industry based on trust and fairness, and no racial discrimination in any form should be tolerated.

Insurers pride themselves on keeping their promises and being there for their customers in emergencies.

Today and every day, insurers want to promote unity and support the communities they serve while contributing to real, positive change.

The decision to make the Junteenth a federal holiday is consistent with that tradition.
