The Hartford names new chief underwriting officer for world specialty unit

The Hartford has appointed Carrie Brodzinski as chief underwriting officer for the insurer’s global specialty business.

In her role as Chief Underwriting Officer, Brodzinski will help advance the company’s strategic priorities for “underwriting excellence and top quartile performance among specialty insurance companies,” according to a press release. She directs and coordinates all aspects of underwriting quality, governance and oversight within the company’s portfolio and takes the lead on the critical underwriter learning and development function.

Brodzinski will be based at The Hartford headquarters in Hartford, CT, reporting to Adrien Robinson, director of The Hartford’s global specialty insurance business.

With over 25 years of industry experience, Brodzinski was most recently Head of Global Underwriting Management for the insurance segment at AXA XL and XL Catlin. She has expertise in product strategy, underwriting and risk analysis and has been responsible for a number of breakthrough products. Brodzinski began her professional career as a lawyer specializing in commercial and insolvency law.
