Westfield Specialty expands its insurance offering with the introduction of an environmental underwriting team, marking its sixth division.

The new environmental liability division is led by Dennis Willette, who holds the position of Senior Vice President Environmental.

Willette brings over 15 years of experience in both the environmental consulting and insurance industries, giving him a significant level of underwriting expertise which he will leverage to provide creative and innovative solutions to clients facing environmental risks.

“Westfield Specialty has given our team a fantastic opportunity to leverage our industry experience and expertise to deliver creative and innovative solutions to our customers,” said Willette. “Our world-class environmental insurers understand the intricacies of this industry, the operational and service risks, and the financial implications that clients face every time a new project begins or contractor-related professional liability risk arises.”

The CPPL (Environmental Contractors Pollution and Professional Liability) policy is available on an unpermitted basis for accounts with an effective date of June 1st or later. Coverage can be taken out as either a standalone Contractor Pollution Liability (CPL) policy or a combined CPL and Professional Liability (CPL/PL) policy. The guidelines, backed by AM Best’s “A” (Excellent) group rating, are written on non-approved paper and are available in all states.

The Westfield Specialty Environmental team also plans to expand its range of environmental liability products as it seeks to implement an O3PI (Owner Protection Against Pollution and Professional Liability) policy to better serve the unique needs of its customers.

“We are excited to add environmental insurance, our sixth product line, and are pleased to have Dennis leading the team,” said Jack Kuhn, President of Westland Specialty. “Dennis offers unparalleled underwriting expertise due to his background in environmental consulting and the insurance industry. I am confident that Dennis and his team will continue to make a difference for our customers, leveraging their industry expertise to deliver world-class service and customized solutions.”

Westfield Specialty was formed in July 2021 and is currently signing off five additional business lines: E&S Property Insurance, E&S Excess Liability Insurance, Professional Insurance, Financial Institutions and Managers Liability Insurance.
