International specialty insurer Ryan Specialty Group has announced the promotion of Michael VanAcker to executive vice president of RT Specialty, Ryan Specialty’s wholesale brokerage and regulatory authority practice.
In his new role, VanAcker will work closely with RT Specialty Chairman and CEO Tim Turner, RT Specialty President Ed McCormack, and RT Specialty regional directors and agents. VanAcker has over 10 years of experience with the company, most recently as Chief Operating Officer of Ryan Specialty. Prior to that he was COO and Controller of RT Specialty. VanAcker has been an integral part of Ryan Specialty’s M&A strategy, acquisition integration and growth trajectory, the company said.

“Michael has been with Ryan Specialty since 2011 and has proven to be an inspirational leader who is organized, creative and innovative,” said Patrick Ryan, Ryan Specialty’s founder, chairman and CEO. “He will bring his invaluable Corporate COO experience and operational acumen directly to our biggest revenue specialty.”
VanAcker is the latest appointment within the Ryan Specialty Group. In August, the company named Michael Blackshear as Head of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. In May last year, Ryan Specialty’s subsidiary, Concord Specialty Risk, announced three significant promotions.
