Williams will also lead key internal underwriting functions such as accumulation and catastrophe risk management and portfolio performance management. Renate Strasser, AGCS Chief Underwriting Officer Specialty, will meanwhile oversee the Energy & Construction business and the global pricing team.
Williams, a New Zealand national, joined AGCS in 2016 as NZ Country Manager. In 2018 he moved to Munich to take on the position of Global Head of Commercial for Financial Lines before moving to his current position the following year.
At AIG, where Williams previously spent 14 years, he held increasingly senior positions in regional financial management positions in Auckland, Johannesburg, Paris and London.
Regarding Buckle, who is leaving Allianz for personal reasons, AGCS CEO Joachim Mueller said: “I would like to thank Tony for his great personal commitment and his contribution to the successful realignment of our corporate lines portfolio.
